Evinrude RPM Chart

Evinrude outboard motors were engineered with specific Wide-Open Throttle (WOT) RPM targets to ensure proper power delivery and engine longevity. Many mid- and high-horsepower Evinrude outboards are designed to operate within a WOT range of approximately 5,000–6,000 RPM, though exact limits vary by model and generation.

Differences in engine design, gearcase ratios, and production years mean that recommended RPM ranges are not universal. The Evinrude propeller chart below summarizes commonly published WOT RPM ranges drawn from manufacturer data and propeller industry references.

Operating Guidance:

Propeller Selection

Correct propeller pitch is essential for reaching rated WOT RPM. If engine speed falls short of the recommended range, pitch may be too high. If RPM exceeds the limit, additional pitch or load may be required. A one-inch pitch change typically alters WOT RPM by approximately 150–200 RPM, depending on setup.

Cruise Operation

A practical cruising RPM for most Evinrude gasoline outboards is below peak output, providing consistent performance while minimizing engine stress and fuel consumption.
